One of my all time favorites,Artemis Fowl is a young adult novel written by Irish auther Eoin Colfer. The first book in the Artemis Fowl series follows the adventures of a twelve year old Artemis Fowl who is a brilliant ,inventive, cunning, and the mastermind of a vast criminal empire.Being a twelve year old only,he sets out to restore his family fortune by kidnapping a fairy from the underworld of magical creatures and holding her for ransom for fairy gold.Unfortunately for Artemis , he picks the wrong fairy to kidnap-Captain Holly Short of LEPrecon Unit. When Holly's comrades come to rescue her, things don't exactly meet up to neither Artemis's plan nor their's.

Eoin Colfer, describes his creation as "die hard with fairies".He's not far wrong.Artemis Fowl is a fantastic boob from the beginning to the end.Mr.Colfer has let out his imagination well by combining folklore, fantasy, high tech tools and humour.Surely,Artemis Fowl has done well for fairies what Harry Potter has done for the wizardry.but please do be warned:this book is no gentle , silent bed-time story,i.e,don't be fooled by the fairy subject matter.Instead what we have is a well written, sophisticated, dark novel, enough to make it a bestseller.Eoin Colfer who has been a primary school teacher in Wexford has bought a new change in the usual fairy description. This book will appeal as much to adults as it will to children.Aremis Fowl surely deserves a five star.
