Tonight on the Titanic by Mary Pope Osborne

The book “ Tonight on the Titanic “ is written by Mary Pope Osborne, a well known author of thrilling , entertaining and adventurous books for school children This is one of the most wonderful books of the Magic House Series. The book is full of entertainment and education also.



The main characters of this book are 8 year old Jack and his 7 year old sister Annie. Jack and Annie had discovered a magical tree which could tajke them to various places in the books. The tree house belongs to Morgan le Fay who is a magical librarian from the time of King Arthur.



One stormy night in Frog Creek, Pennsylvania , USA after hearing few noises, Jack and Annie went to the tree house. They found one puppy in one of the corners of the tree house. Jack also found a paper lying on the floor. On which it was written :



This little dog is under a spell and needs your help . To free him from the spell you must be given four special things :

A gift from a ship lost at sea
A gift from prairie blue
A gift from forest far away
A gift from Kangaroo
Be wise. Be Brave Be Careful
Morgan



The dog pushed a book from his nose which was titled “ The Unsinkable Ship”. Jack pointed to the book and said – I wish I could go there . After that the tree house started to spin fast and then they landed between the smoke stacks and look out of a huge ship. They saw that the ship was scraping against the mountain of ice. Annie was standing near the railing and she read the name . It was RMS Titanic.



The book tells us in detail about the Titanic and how the brother sister were saved the lives of few people with courage. In the end , they were able to take a gift from the Titanic and reached the tree house just in time. The tree house brought them back to their home. But as they were able to get a gift ,the dog had disappeared.
